Welcome to Larry Summers CTE Center!

The Larry Summers Vocational-Technical Center, located in Yazoo City, MS, offers courses to train students in occupation specific areas. Students are provided the opportunity to work with equipment, materials, and problems relating to different jobs in the supervised atmosphere of a laboratory setting. The courses offered at the vocational center include Automotive Services, Construction Technology, Marketing, Metal Trades (Metal Manufacturing), Early Childhood Education, and Health Science Technology. These programs are designed as two-year, 720-hour courses for which students receive two credits per year.

Upon completion of the two-year programs, students may enter the work force or continue their education at the post-secondary level. Vocational student organizations are involved in activities designed to develop leadership skills, competitive skills and reinforce other aspects of the curriculum. These organizations include National Vocational-Technical Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America, Technology Student Association, Family, Career, & Community Leaders of America, and Vocational Industrial Clubs of America. Vocational guidance counseling services are available to help with class scheduling, career exploration, college selection, and personal crisis.
